John Cook fired 6-under 65 to Outback Steakhouse lead
LUTZ, Florida (AP) — First they fought the wind, now they must fight each other.John Cook (FSY) shot a 6-under 65 to take the lead a-line at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-am on Saturday. Cook sits at 11-under, one ahead of Russ Cochran (FSY). First-day leader shot a 3-under 68. "I left some putts out there, but (I shot) a 65 like it or not, and that's just fine with me," Cook said. "But it is what we are here. We are the champions and we want to win golf tournaments.Jay Don Blake (FSY) is third, three strokes back.Cook use precision to climb the leaderboard, he hit 13 of 14 fairways in regulation and birdied four of the back nine holes, including three straight from 12 to 14. He missed a chance for a birdie on 18 when his eight-foot putt came up inches short. "I can be kind of striped for birdies, but I am happy to be streaky manner and not in other ways, "Cook said."I am quite happy if just one bogey, and it was a bad on a three-putt.
